All new varieties are evaluated in a test block before commercial planting proceeds. Angon Fruit also has access to varieties from breeding programs such as Sheehan (SNFL), Plant Genetics, Culdevco (ARC), International Fruit Genetics (IFG) and Sun World varieties.
Angon Fruit’s producers have planted new varieties such as Sweet Globe, Sugar Crisp and Joybells. These producers are also planning to plant new seedless varieties such as Ivory, Sweet Nectar and Sweet Joy, once plant material becomes available. At Angon Fruit we are constantly seeking to improve our supply calendar in order to satisfy our customer’s needs and constantly find the point of difference.
Angon Fruit’s producers are constantly evaluating innovative technology or concepts to reduce the dependency from non-renewable energy sources. The aim is to reduce costs by reducing the dependency on coal generated electricity, chemical sprays, fertilisers and diesel consumption. Incentives for employees are offered bi-annually to stimulate innovative ideas around sustainability.
